Your local electrician in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes is a regular run for us. It became a new town in 1967. Grid roads split it into about 100 grid squares, each built round an old village or a local centre. So the city has homes from almost every decade since.

From a single socket to a full rewire or an EV charger on the drive, you get the same quick response and careful work. You also get a clear fixed price before anything starts.

We are based in Steeple Claydon, near Buckingham, to the west of the city. Milton Keynes is a regular part of our week.

Homes from every decade since 1967

The new town took in Bletchley, Fenny Stratford, Wolverton, Stony Stratford and about 15 villages. So the city had old streets and cottages before the first grid square went up.

The 1970s estates were bold. Netherfield was designed around 1971, with long prefab terraces set into the slope. Beanhill was started in 1973 and its first phase is timber framed. Fishermead has long blocks that back onto shared garden squares. Homes like these are now about 50 years old. Wiring that age is due a proper test.

In 1986 the Energy World show at Shenley Lodge put up 51 low-energy homes. About 1,200 more homes nearby were built to the same standard. Even so, their wiring is now close to 40 years old.

Newer areas such as Brooklands, Broughton and Whitehouse were built from the 2000s on. Whitehouse alone is planned at about 4,400 homes. The council is also renewing older estates, with new homes going up on the Lakes Estate and in Netherfield.

What we do in Milton Keynes

Electrician in Milton Keynes, questions answered

How much does an EV charger cost to fit in Milton Keynes?

It depends on the charger and how far the cable runs from your fuse board to the drive. We check your supply first. Then you get one fixed price in writing.

Do I need a licence to rent out a shared house in Milton Keynes?

A home shared by 5 or more people from 2 or more households needs a mandatory HMO licence. The council says it runs no extra scheme on top. You do need planning permission to turn a family home into an HMO. We can provide the electrical report a licence asks for.

My house is on a 1970s estate. Should I get it checked?

If the wiring has never had a full test, yes. An EICR shows what state it is in. Then you can plan any work with no surprises.

Do you cover the whole city?

Yes. We cover Bletchley, Central Milton Keynes and the grid squares in between, out to Broughton and Whitehouse.
